The 2023 Chevy Silverado engine has improved efficiency thanks to several changes and innovations. The engine updates help the truck be more fuel-efficient while creating greater torque output and improving the vehicle's performance. Here is a breakdown of the changes in Chevy's engine and how beneficial they are for the truck and its drivers in Bowling Green.

Improved Performance with Four New Engines

2023 Silverado 1500, 2500 HD, and 3500 HD models are available with various engines, including two V8 engines, a turbocharged four-cylinder, and a Duramax diesel 3.0-liter inline-six. The Silverado can reach 60 miles per hour on the Toledo highways in 5.4 seconds when equipped with two eight-cylinder engines.

The 6.2-liter engine, with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, is the most powerful option for Oregon, OH commuters. The 355-horsepower 5.3-liter engine took 6.1 seconds to get up to 60 mph in Woodville. A whopping 420 pound-feet of torque can be had from the turbocharged 2.7-liter inline-four engine. The 3.0L inline-six turbocharged Duramax now produces 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.

Fuel Economy Improvements

The diesel is the most fuel-efficient option at up to 23 mpg on the streets of Genoa and 33 on the highway. Its highway MPG rating lowers to 26 mpg when equipped with all-wheel drive. The gas-powered turbo four-cylinder AWD is estimated to get up to 20 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the interstate.

The most fuel-efficient is the all-wheel-drive configuration with a 5.3-liter V-8, which achieves up to 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the interstate. Compared to the turbo-four, the 6.2-liter V-8's city/highway mpg figures of 16/21 are outstanding.

Increased Towing Capacity

The 2023 Silverado is a highly competent mover with a maximum towing capability of 13,300 pounds. The 6.2-liter V8 can pull the most weight, but even the 5.3-liter engine can tow up to 11,500 pounds. It can tow up to 9,500 pounds with an all-wheel drive, turbocharged four-cylinder variant. The payload in the Chevrolet truck is between 1,870 and 2,280 pounds.
