Learn More About the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Engines

At Yark Chevrolet, we are excited to bring you the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500. This light-duty truck offers exceptional capability throughout its lineup. In addition to offering nine trim levels, the Silverado 1500 also has four potent engine options. From the stalwart base TurboMax to two powerful V8s to a heavy-towing turbo-diesel, all the Silverado engine options provide outstanding performance. Keep reading to learn more about which Silverado 1500 engine is right for you.

2.7-Liter TurboMax I4

The 2.7-liter TurboMax remains the Silverado 1500 standard powerplant. This engine's durability is a testament to its quality. This I4 engine outproduces most V6 engines and even some V8 engines found under the hoods of the competition. The TurboMax engine produces 310 horsepower, a remarkable amount for any base light-duty truck engine, never mind an I4. The TurboMax also generates a stout 430 pound-feet of torque, better than any other engine in its class. If you equip your Silverado 1500 with the standard engine, you will still get impressive performance.

The TurboMax pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission and comes standard on the WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss trims.

5.3-Liter EcoTec3 V8

Want to hear the powerful roar of a V8 every time you drive your Silverado? Then consider the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 engine. With eight cylinders, this robust powerplant can outperform most V8 engines produced by the competition, with 355 horsepower and up to 383 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, you will never be left wanting for an exhilarating drive, whether you are commuting to work or slinging mud on your favorite trails.

The 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission and comes standard on the LTZ and High Country trims. It is available on the WT (Double Cab and Crew Cab), Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss trims.

6.2-Liter EcoTec3 V8

For a truly memorable V8 driving experience, it's hard to top the Silverado 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8. This engine can tackle just about any task you ask of it, from hauling worksite payloads to towing your favorite boat for a fishing trip to the rigors of everyday driving. The engine produces a jaw-dropping 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. When paired with four-wheel drive, this V8 turns the Silverado into a go-anywhere, do-anything vehicle that just about any driver would love.

The 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It is available on the RST (Crew Cab with four-wheel drive), LT Trail Boss, LTZ (with four-wheel drive), ZR2, and High Country (with four-wheel drive) trims.

Duramax 3.0-liter Turbo-Disel I6

Truck enthusiasts have long known that nothing delivers brute force, low-end towing power quite like a diesel engine. Even as other automakers abandon diesel, Chevy continues to provide for drivers who need that extra muscle with the Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine. This I6 beast generates 305 horsepower and a remarkable 495 pound-feet of torque. Equipping your truck with the Duramax unlocks the Silverado's maximum towing capacity of 13,300 pounds. Plus, the Duramax can also save you some money at the pump, thanks to a best-in-class EPA-estimated fuel economy of 28 mpg highway.

The Duramax 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel I6 engine comes standard on the ZR2 trim. It is available on the Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country trims.
